Stuffed and Starved: From Farm to Fork the Hidden Battle for the World Food System

Have you ever wondered why we see so much cheap processed, unhealthy foods in the grocery store, made only by a small number of corporations? Or why there are so many impoverished, hungry people despite the tremendous amount of food produced around the world each year? Well, if you haven’t before, I bet you are wondering about it now (I hope). This book changed the way I thought about food, explaining how capitalism and globalization have made what our industrialized agricultural system is today. For example, 40% of world trade in food is now controlled by transnational agricultural corporations in strategic partnerships with biotech seed/pesticide companies like Monsanto. I learned that the politics behind food is vast and it is much deeper than just being a conscious, ethical consumer. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn just how; “Unless you are a corporate food executive, the food system isn’t working for you.”
