Christy is an ‘environmental justice advocate’ who is a part-time gardener, full-time undergraduate student, full-time plant lover, part-time amateur photographer, full-time animal lover, full-time food lover, and full-time optimist (89% of the time). Okay, I don’t really have a person who narrates everything in my life, I think it just sounds cool to say things in third person (weird, I know).
I started this blog to share my passion for learning about environmental justice, food justice, and to share vegan recipes. I seek to help move towards a sustainable and just world by helping others to recognize the interconnectedness between us, our environment, and our food choices. More specifically, I am interested in social justice issues affecting people, Mother Earth, and animals, including learning how all oppressions are connected.
Ever since I was young, Nature has been a constant source of inspiration and is the force behind my lifestyle and future aspirations. As a person of color and vegan, I feel that a vegan lifestyle is far too invisible in communities that need it the most. I hope this site can serve as a resource for anyone else who grew up with a culturally defined (heavy meat/dairy) diet and/or who wants to try eating a more compassionate lifestyle without having to make sacrifices.
Everyday I am learning more, so please discuss your thoughts with me — I am always open for hearing new perspectives. 🙂
Here you will find short articles on environmental issues, vegan recipes (mostly Mexican recipes due to my ethnicity), and things I have learned throughout my journey towards a more conscious way of living.
Thank you for stopping by!
